PROJECTS:
Africatrust Network Foundation has thirty [30] project sites spread throughout Ghana.

Volunteers work in basic schools, orphanages, conservation facilities, institutions for People with Disability [PWD], Community initiated Projects and Advocacy on emerging social challenges.
The projects are located in the rural and urban communities of Ghana.

The volunteers are given the profiles of these projects at the beginning of the Orientation course and they select their project sites by the end of the two week course.

KUMASI CHILDREN HOME, KUMASI
The home was establish on 1965 by the government of Ghana, with the objective to provide, care and protection to orphans abandoned children, motherless children, other children taken from their parent or guardians by the officers of social welfare.
The population of the home is eighty-two (82).
Volunteers will assist in nursing, bathing, dressing the babies and the young ones. They can assist in teaching the children songs. Volunteers will work thirty (30) hours per week.
Volunteers shall assist in purchacaces of items from the market.

OFFIN CHILDREN’S (OCC) OFFINSO
The center was established in June 1996 by a group of philanthropists with a common concern for the needy children in the society.
Volunteers shall care for children, assist teachers in the school, assist the children in the library and do other exciting extra curricular activities.
OCC is also looking organizations, institutions or individuals who can sponsor needy children and help complete two homes for the center.

KING JESUS CHARITY HOME (KJCH) KUMASI
The home started by Rev. Kofi Owusu Afriyie in 1995 with three (3) children under a shed. The population has grown to one hundred and twenty-five (125).
Volunteers shall assist teachers in the nursery and can offer vocational work depending on his/her ability. Volunteers can participate in HIV/AIDS educational campaigns.KJCH is looking for sponsors outside Ghana to help complete the kitchen, toilet and bath blocks at the home.

-NEW LIFE INTERNATIONAL, GHANA, CAPE COAST

-NKORANZA CHILDREN HOME, NKORANZA

GARDEN CITY SPECIAL SCHOOL, KUMASI

The Garden City Special School was established by the government for mentally challenged student. It is under the Ghana Educational Service’s Special School programme. The population of the school is One hundred and fifty (150), 75% of which are boarders.
Volunteers shall work closely with school nurse and the medical officer to assess, treat and advise student and staff. Volunteers shall assist in therapeutic activities of the school.
Volunteers shall work twenty-five (25) hours per week from Monday to Friday.
The school needs more training materials, teaching aids, sporting equipments and accessories.

JACHIE TRAINING CENTRE, JACHIE
The institution was established by the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled in 1986.
It has the following workshops
Orthopedic Batik/Tie-Dye Woodwork Leatherwork
Fashion Broadloom Weaving Computer Centre

Volunteers shall work in one of these workshops and shall be supervised by the Head of the Section.
The institution is also looking for somebody to market the production unit of the center.

BUOYEM CAVES AND BAT COLONY, BUOYEM

Volunteers shall help in construction of community recreational building at Buoyem and reception facilities at the Bat Colony. Volunteers will assist in developing the road to the grove and help market the eco-tourism potentials of Buoyem.

BAWDIE ARBORETEUM, RESSORT AND TOURS, BAWDIE
The facilities is situated on 28.9 acre Land at the junction to La Cote D’Voire with objectives:- to preserve and protect indigenous and medicinal plant of Ghana. Volunteers shall assist in different type of work and activities.

THERE IS OPPORTUNITY FOR VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST IN TEACHING IN RURAL AND URBAN SCHOOLS AND WORK AND GAIN A LOT OF EXPERIENCE ON COMMUNITY INITIATED PROGRAMME AND PROJECT.
